It finally started to blow around 5:30 at the Event Site last night. I was walking my dog and watching about six people make reaches.

A local kid was inflated and rigged west of the line of demarcation. He asked for a launch and I gave him one.

A few people inquired why I launched him and gave the kid a talking to.

Being a HR local, I see people rig and launch all the time in the fall/spring from the Event Site.

I assumed that since it's past Labor Day and there were no windsurfers out, it was no big deal to launch the guy.

Anyone care to provide feedback? When does it become OK to launch from the ES?

Sept 30th is the official day that it's OK to launch from the Event Site.

Apparently it is posted on the signs as well.

FYI....

October 1st to April 30th is when it's okay to launch from the Event Site.

Good news btw, the Waterfront Recreation Committee has voted to extend the "PUMP & DRY" area to the line of trees giving us about 15-20 more feet of room (No one has measured yet). Now it just has to go to the Port Commissioners for a vote and next year we'll have a bunch more space!

This has been a long and hard fought battle to gain ground on the Event Site. You can thank the CGKA by visiting our website and becoming a member. Membership is the best way to show your support and helps the CGKA protect and expand access.

Thx to those that are spearheading this effort.

I guess that means someone will need to cut a new "dirt moat" in the grass

Fantastic news Forrest!! Totally worth CGKA membership. Hopefully the Port agrees with the expansion proposal because the extra real estate is definitely needed.

I have lived in the Gorge (windsurfing) for 15 years and never bought a pass for the Event Site until this year. Actually, I got two passes including a spouse pass for my wife specifically because of the "pump and dry" kite access on the grass strip. I guess we'll be buying passes again next year along with a CGKA membership.

That's great news! Good work! It was definitely getting a little crowded this summer at times. If it gets any bigger, we might have to lose the "patch" in snatch patch.

There was a movement to have us banned completely from the Eventsite. We were able to stop that and actually get more space. Mainly because of YOU. You the public did a great job of self policing our area. Thanks again for everyone's help and understanding. Keep up the good work.

Look for more good things to come.....
