Hi All,

Looking to pick up a cheap adobe package. I was looking at Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 for Windows. I use it at work and was hoping to have a copy for home use.

I'm all about supporting the man from time to time and buying software, but not trying to drop 200 bucks just so I can create my own PDF or "print" to PDF.

I was looking at maybe trying to buy it through my folks as they are educators and may be able to get that discount but not sure. A number of the sites that I was looking at buying from are just selling the upgrade from 8.0 for 100-130 bucks.

I don't have ANY version currently. Was thinking about DL off limewire or something of the sort but don't want to pick up a virus. Also, I'm down to pay for what this company is providing, but they want 3-400 bucks for a full version... There has got to be some sort of in between.

Any ideas?

Depending on what app you are trying to create pdf from, you might give Open Office a try since pdf is built right in, it replaces the standard MS Office apps, and its free.

and remember if you get the educational version there is NO UPGRADING. You'd have to start all over if you ever wanted a newer version.

Hey brad thanks for the heads up, was not aware of that.

One of the things that I am trying to do is to combine multiple PDFs into a single PDF. It has to do with a business that I have where I am faxing off like copies of 50-60 pages and I get a ton of 1-2 page PDFs...

I can copy and paste everything into Word, but then word starts freaking out when it is a 60MB program with a thousand jpegs in it plus I think it sorta distorts everything.

Any other ideas for a work around?

Thanks again for all the help guys. Man I am abusing this forum. My bad.

Anyone else want to join Jacob and I for a downwinder from Viento->HR on saturday?

But sounds like a batch faxing program would be a better solution.

Got to luv ghostscript running on UNIX. Code a little sed, awk or grep
& you're in business.

Check out Nitro PDF. It's under $100 and was developed by folks who made many adobe plug-ins. It creates, combines, and edits pdf's very easily and quickly. Upon install it creates a button in word and any program can print to it and create pdf's. I've been using it for a few months for my business. Hope this helps.

my advice..bit torrent DL adobe master suite, and the serial crack (although the trial version hack works better). When you run setup then you can install any and I mean ANY of the adobe products. This route however is illegal. Not saying you should, just that you could.

I have not lived an angelic life, so, I don't want to come off as some sort of pious prick, but....

Choose one of the legal options.

Intellectual property is still property.

Acquiring Intellectual property without compensating the owner or permission from the owner is no different than stealing kites a the sandbar.

Think about it.

Unless you are a whore to a particular WinShit app, why would you even boot it up?

Almost all flavor's of Unix have been just as shitty as Windows has EVER been, that includes OSX.

If all you want to do is create PDF files, you can use the link below to download a free app. It is free for personal use and works well.

OpenOffice is freeware that can *replace* your Microsoft Office suite, and it has a menu option to "print to PDF". It will save to and read almost every common office application. I haven't had to buy or use Microsoft Office in about 10 years.

I highly recommend it.

Download it for FREE at:
