Hey everybody, so I got word I have to be in hillsboro oregon for work on Tuesday so I have a good excuse now to head to the gorge for the weekend.

Anybody know of a good spot to stay Sunday night. possibly Saturday night too if I can get there early enough.

I was thinking campgrounds but I'm guessing everything is probably already full since its the holiday weekend. cheap is key Smile

There is a great campground about 15 min outside of Hood River in Lyle called Wishbone. It's $5 a night and had a full bathroom and shower. Plus a killer frisbee golf course.

I'll post up the directions in a few.

Cross the Hood River bridge into Washington

Head East on Highway 14 for 11 miles

Just before you cross over the kilckitat river in lyle take a left on Canyon road.

Follow it for 1 mile and then bear to the right.

Wishbone will be 200 yards down the road on your right

Head all the way up the dirt road set up camp and enjoy the view Thumb's Up

Try Rufus, mile maker 109 on i-84. East gorge should blow there this wkend pretty good. Or try 3 mile cayon, mile maker 151 on i-84. Both those places you can camp for free for up to 14 days, there is an outhouse, no showers. Launch and camp at the waters edge basically. And there is some type of event going on in Maryhill this weekend as well. "Weekend of Speed" at Maryhill (which is down river from Rufus by about 4 miles and on the Washington side, too. There is camping there as well, but probably aready taken up. Another option on the Maryhill side is to camp out on the gravel road across from Rufus. There are a couple of portable outhouses along the road. Just go thru the Maryhill area heading east and the road will turn into a gravel road. Poleboarders always campout there as well as fisherman. The area is called "The WALL".

I love wishbone. Quite, never crowded, no trains, dry... and it used to be close to the fightclub:

Check out Bridge RV park 5 mins. from the event site. http://www.bridgerv.com/

This is a great spot close to town, walking distance, and kid friendly.

Tell Robin I sent you,

Ron Very Happy

well sounds like sandbar is first choice and I'll head east from there in search of wind if I can't get it at the bar.

I hear rufus or roosevelt may be good options.

Thanks for the tips everyone!
