A very happy ending to what could have been ugly. Briefly, my 10 year old, good kiter but only 10, was walking out from the sand bar with his kite over head in about a foot of water. An adult kiter doing some sort of move wrapped his kite around my sons. It was the adults fault. My son pulled his release instantly as he has been trained to do over and over, the adult followed suit and what could have been ugly, turned into a 5 minute line reset session.
As a bonus, the adult kiter was VERY apologetic, respectful, and came over to talk to both me and my 10 year old. Very classy guy, and I really appreciated what he said and the positive vibe he gave to my son. Didn't get his name, but "thanks" to him.
Know your release.

Many props to your son for remembering his training when it counted. Also, a big thumbs up to you for instilling good habits in your son!
Last thing, Eric, we need a name for your son and a pic of him with a kite! |

haha sounds like he got his first "official" welcome to the sandbar, and its kookery!! Lucky kid to have a cool person and teacher as a dad!
Glad everything worked out for the best, I remember the first time I got my lines tangled by someone at the spit. It was by a crazy kook named Alex P. _________________ I heart dangling |
