Its been over 2 years on these kites now, and I repeatedly fail to see how I am supposed to recover my bar from 20ft down without having a tangled mess on my hands; whenever I use the emergency release, the thing sinks like a rock because of lack of substantial flotation.
I assume this is just the way the bar is designed, but I just wanted to get it out there. Do all new slingshot kites at least have positive flotation bars? I never hear any industry hype/specs on this, when I think it is actually pretty important as it determines how easily the gear can be put back into flying mode. |

Hey Spike :
Because of the pulleys on your steering lines, the Powerstroke bars end up having very small floaters on the bar ends, thus resulting in the bars have neutral to negative buoyancy.
For any kite you upgrade to now, it will come with a standard SLE bar that allows for appropriately/normal sized floaters on the bar ends, resulting in a bar that floats without issues.
I do not know of any solution for adding buoyancy to your current bars, but can assure you that most any bar that you upgrade to with a new kite will likely have adequate floatation.

| This may sound stupid, but what about putting a second float next to your existing floats and taping them together or using a piece of plumbing insulation (cheap) and put it around your existing floats then tape it up. You run a small risk of a line having a greater tendency to hang up on it because of the increased size, but, the bar will float. |
