We have moved the BOG tiki party to a new event that is indeed in need of a pre-party. So come kite Stevenson Friday, 24th and come up to the Tiki bar for a BBQ and party afterwards. The good news is that we will all get to sleep in a lot longer with this later starting event compared to BOG. The Blowout race from Stevenson to Hood River is Saturday the 25th.

More party details to follow in the coming weeks!

Suggestions of things to bring besides something to throw on the BBQ....

I love jello! Laughing

6 ounces Jello (large package)
16 ounces Water (boiling)
6 ounces Water (cold)
10 ounces Vodka or rum
Mix the jello mix with the boiling water until the powder is fully dissolved and add the cold water and alcohol. Pour the cooling mixture into either shot glasses or paper cups. Shot glasses are more attractive, but drinker can turn the paper cups inside-out to more easily eat the alcoholic jello.

Fuzzy Navel Jello Shots

6 ounces Orange Jello (large box)
16 ounces Water (boiling)
6 ounces Water (cold)
6 ounces Peach Schnapps

Mai-Tai Jello Shots

6 ounces Tropical Jello (large box)
16 ounces Water (boiling)
2 ounces Light Rum
4 ounces Dark Rum
2 ounces Pineapple Juice

As far as I know, the sign-ups for the Blow-out race are the day of the event prior to the skippers meeting which is usually held around 11:00 am. The event itself started at 1:00 last year.

If you haven't done it, it is a fun event.

We have a sponsor for the tiki party so we won't be thursty! Steve - You're turn for more details.

Counting down to the Tiki party on Friday night! Only 5 days to go!

We're planning on kicking things off around 7:00 p.m., going to around 1:00 a.m. (or so...) Trying not to run too late as it makes the next days event a little rough. There will be places to crash or put up a tent if you're not in shape to drive home.

We'll be heading up the hill to our place after we get some kiting in at Stevenson. We'll provide some appetizers and some "punch" but it's basically a BYO Beer and BBQ. We'll have two grills fired up and ready for you to use. I may do some brats but I don't want to get too tied down to the grill.

This party is open to all BOTG/Blowout/KB4C participants and volunteers, CGKA members/BOD, and all of our kiting friends in the Gorge. We'll even let the Seattle crew in. Wink (pretty much if you can read this you're in).

I'll post up directions on Wednesday. Same place as last year, the pool is sparkling, the hot tub is bubbling, and the bar will be OPEN.

Hope to see everyone there.

Tony

...now where did those lacy bras i found last year by the hot tub get off to???

PostMon Jul 20, 09 12:19 pm    Blowout tiki Party and used kites & boards to DR Reply with quote

We're giving out a huge drink and a US tax deduction to everyone who brings a usable kite, bar, or board as a donation to the kids in DR.

I'm working with Laurel Eastman and the DREAM Project (DR Education and Mentoring Project) http://www.dominicandream.org to train DR kids and adults on kiteboarding. Besides learning to kite and safety, they will be trained on kite repair including sewing and bladder repair.

Leading the USA East Coast effort will be the NY Kiteboarding. Getting the kites to the DR will also be difficult so if you're going, please PM me and we'll put extra gear on your back.

If you can't make the party, catch me at the BBQ after the Blowout in HR or PM.

Band - We think we have a band lined up to play. More info tomorrow.

Pool activities - The pirate plank is across the pool 4' high and has been thouroughly tested for jousting. It is definately providing great entertainment.

Pinball machine- Tony's surprise 1976 original "Woods Queen" pinball machine arrived today and will be set up this evening. Bring some quarters!

Jungle juice and volka/lemonade beverages will be served. Bring some beer if you want. We do have a few cases being donated. I grabed some chips and hot dogs for the BBQ. Bring some meat to throw on if you think you'll be really hungry.

BOG kiteboarding pics. We'll have a projector going with BOG pics, so bring a CD or something if you want to share them.

Camping - You can camp in our yard, cul de sac or our neighbors field. The fairgrounds has a Blue Grass event and is charging $25 per night to camp there so you can go there too. You can also probably camp in the Port's parking lot at the launch site if you keep low key.

Wind - Its been great the last few days and the forecast looks like we should get the event off on Saturday.

Carol went shopping this morning and bought tons of food - so the party is on wind or not! We'll probably head up the hill around 7 after kiting (hopefully) on Friday.
Hope to see a lot of the nwkite.com gang up here!

Tony

We could use some salads and desserts, maybe some more finger foods.

If someone wants to grab a couple of watermelons and cut them up when they get here that would be great.

We've got basic BBQ items like hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken legs, enough for about 100 to 120 people to have one item each. If you want a steak or something fancy you need to bring it.

How bout this if you want to bring something to share:

Last name A-G: salads / fruit
Last name H-S: appetizers / finger foods / chips
Last name T-Z: desserts

Bring a towel if you plan on jumping in the pool or hot tub. Bring a sleeping bag or blankets if you plan on crashing in the lounge chairs by the pool at the end of the night.
