Mon Jun 19, 06 8:55 am Bladder leak |
|
|
My prostate seems enlarged and ....
oops, what I mean to say is my main bladder on my CB16 has a very slow leak in it. I took the bladder out and pumped it up but can't seem to locate the leak.
As you know, its hard to get allot of psi in the bladder as it will just keeps stretching.
Any tips?

Pack that thing up and head out to the gorge, its windy enough that you won't need that 16 for a while.
A good way is to fill a colman cooler or some sort of water conatiner, or go the the swimming pool, and start at one end and keep dunking it untill you see the leak. Repeat as necessary small ones in big bladders are the hardest to find.
Good luck!!! _________________ the porn star brother of the famous Tony hawk |

before you even take the bladder out pump it up use soap liquid and rub the entire bladder its gonna bubble where the leak is then you get a idea where to start lots of times its the nipple has streached and you spend lots of time looking for notheing if the nipple has streached its a slow leak and somtimes it dosent leak in this case heat up a pan of hot water not boiling but hot stick the valuve in and soften the rubber then as quick as you can put it in a pan of ice cold water the colder the better to shrink the rubber this works for me but a leaking bladder sucks if its a pin hole it wont be for long and a kite on the beach wiill expand and blow......better than 40 feet in the air on a crowded day do this repair with time on hand as a jeckel fix is usally a waist of time..... |

If you can't find the leak it is probably because the main valve is the source of your leak. On the cabrinha kites it has to be tight also check for sand under the rubber seal washer on the main valve; which also makes the seal leak. Check both and post back in the morning....... |

I am definately leaning towards the main valve being the problem. After running the whole thing through the tub which, to say the least was quite comical. Especially when my wife walked in the bathroom and there is this huge rubber snake all throughout the bathroom and stuff is all over the floor and all our magazines are soaking wet.
The only place with a leak that I could find was around the valve but I may have loosened it when taking the bladder out. Seems like a false alarm. Of well, its easy enough to put it back in. |
