Going to Haines AK. Is it worth hauling kite gear? Any waves? Any body know about what size kites?

I'm not sure about Haines, but I'm up in near Kodiak Island and the wind is nuking every day. Specifically, I'm in Sand Point, AK. Steady wind, set you watch to it. Kind of Arctic wind and Siberian cold water but if your game, it looks amazing for kiting.

I was there a few summers ago and the bay was blasting SE I think, there has been postings before about kiting Alaska, on clear days in SE AK parts of the channels get windy. Juneau also can get it, out south Douglas right in town.

Hey jdmogile,
Definitely bring your kite gear to Haines. We are out on average about 3 days a week with great southeast winds at this time of year. Bring your wetsuit (I use a 4/3) or drysuit (50 degree water) and your 9m to 13m kite. I sent you an email with my phone number and we can hook you up.

The map on this post shows the town side of Haines which is not the best kiting location around here. We all kite on the other side (viewable in the bottom corner of the image).

Check out the information and pictures of Haines kiteboarding at http://kitingalaska.com/locations.php

Looking forward to hearing from you.
