I'm visiting my bro in the OC. I will be in the Ventura area as well. Any tips/ suggestions on places to kite/ avoid. 'C' street sounds like a must hit - Is this the only place worth a hoot. THX

I lived in Orange County last spring. I kited in the surf at the very, very (like last 100ft is the launch, right where it turns into Huntington at the rivermouth) north end of Newport beach. In LA county I'd recommend sunset beach, extreme north end. Or Belmont Shore for flat water. That place get the best wind in the region, but is a bit of drive.
If you kite in at that Newport beach launch, you kind of have to assess the situation every day with the lifeguard. There's a stand there. See what he says, they tend not to mind if you're polite and its not crowded. Beach goers have way, way more right of way, just something to keep in mind.
Seen people kite near the Huntington piers, too. But that can be people-crowded, too.
Belmont shore is a pretty safe bet. I rode 12m or 16m C kites there.

If you're hitting up OC, the best spots are Sunset Beach and Seal Beach for surf. If you want more specific locations, as those are pretty broad areas, let me know. Belmont is "flat" water, although pretty choppy, but has quite a few beginners. Best spot to learn in the area.

Mostly depends on what you're looking for.

Thanks guys. I'm looking to check it all out, & ride the waves & flat water when and where it's windy enough . I'll check out the beaches you recommended. Bro said waves N of Malibu are not so good Confused Hopefully wind is good tho. THX - C

C Street is sick when it fires, just respect surfers in the line up.
