Yea stop reminding me. Today I was totally nervous on my ride to the beach but once in the water I forgot all about it. Well almost... I would think about it when I passed the boneyard.

Makes Hood River look good these days.

My buddy in the US Coast Guard used to fly Helicopters over in Hawaii and they would regularly do flights over Kanaha and Maui area. He tells me that seeing sharks in the early morning and evening was common. More common than any responsible Hawaiian would dare tell a potential tourist.
What's interesting to me is the bites on boards. A board kind of looks like a lure with all the shiny colors etc..
Makes me want to stay out of the water as much as possible.

Adam, I'm glad it wasn't you!! I was freaking out...

Cheers!

Thought this was interesting..

So, my friends who live in Maui tell me that the locals avoid going out in water that is murky.

http://mauinow.com/2013/08/09/beneath-the-surface-sharks-in-perspective/

The other thing that I learned from them in my brief year of living in Maui was that some larger Tiger Sharks are seen regularly at certain beaches. Hookipa is one of these places where a large Tiger was sighted often by locals who were fishing with spear guns. This 15 foot male would snatch their catch on a regular basis.

I guess if you're going to avoid the water because of sharks you might get hit by lightning, so either way you might as well enjoy the ride, right?
