I haven't been to the coast yet... what's the best spot for this forecast? Sunset? Manzanita? |

With the general weather forecast I would say that the North Strip or Manzanita is gonna be your best bet.
Plan on heading to Manzo Sunday for some coastal goodness! |

Easties on Saturday huh? Does that mean Ponds will work? I'd like to get out this weekend, probably Saturday. With the wind like it is is the coast pretty much my only option? _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

From the forecast I saw, there will be east wind at Rooster Rock on Sat and North wind at SI tonight. |

My bet is morning easterlies on the coast..(Ponds mabey/ nehalem bay is ok actually) then hopefully north coming on strong in the arvo.
noaa is going back and forth on the FX. Whenever I see East in the forecast Im stoked for the sun but skeptical on the wind....
Well see! |

Does ponds work on a north wind or will I need to move to the ocean side when that happens? And define early; will getting there at 10am be early enough? _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

If the high water in gorge freaks you out, go to the coast.
East to Northeast winds early Saturday morning at the lagoons.
Switching to North in the afternoon...
Gonna be windy all weekend long...
My 2-cents - go to the coast.... |

It doesn't freak me out I just hear tell that HR is not an easty spot. Is that incorrect? Also Rooster is flooded so no launching there _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

The easterlies usually shut down around noon..
10ish would be fine .. dont know on the tide call though .. I dont ride the ponds much but I seem to remember a certain tide is better than others . |

I've only been there once but from my recollection on full low tide you have about 2 inches of water and on full high tide you have no place to pump and launch. other than that the tide doesn't affect much from my recollection. Granted that is from one session in december so it's likely not accurate. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |
