2009 Hood River Snow Show

When : Nov 21 (doors open at 5:30pm, main features begin around 6pm)
Where : The Gorge Room at the Hood River Inn, Hood River, OR
What : Double feature movie premiere of 'Black Winter' and 'ReFresh', with tease showing of 'Can't Stop'. Raffle Prizes and Fundraiser event for local ski/snowboard teams. Beer and Wine will be available for those over 21yrs of age to purchase.
Who : 2nd Wind Sports, IPS Skate Shop and Mt Hood Meadows.
How Much?: $5/person entry and $1/ea for raffle tickets

Details : 2nd Wind Sports, along with Mt Hood Meadows Ski Resort, Monster Energy Drink and IPS Skate Shop, are hosting a movie premiere fundraiser party (aka “The Hood River Snow Show”) to raise money for our local youth ski and snowboard teams. The show is being provided as an opportunity to support Hood River and Mt Hood community interests and focus towards the growth of our local ski and snowboard programs. All proceeds for this event are being given to the Hood River Snowboard and Ski Teams.

We will be featuring a double movie premiere with "Black Winter" (Standard Films) and "REFRESH" (Level 1 Productions), plus a bonus pre-show viewing of "Can't Stop"(Sammy Carlson).
The plan for the HR Snow Show is to give locals the opportunity to meet with local reps and view the new 2010 ski/snowboard products, watch the premiere of a ski film, run some raffles, watch the premiere of a snowboard film, run the final raffle off, then finish with an apre-film party hosted by local dj’s AREA54. All participants, sponsors and event organizers are donating their time, services and product in the effort to make this event as positive of a fundraiser event as possible.

Hey Shy, thanks to you and Dave for the shwag support for our event.

Looks like we have a decent amount of shwag/raffle prizes for this event. If you are attending and have little kids coming up to you looking to sell you raffle tickets, trust me, give them the money and take the tickets.
This is an event where all proceeds are being donated to the youth ski/snowboard programs and we have a deluxe amount of raffle prizes.

Grand Prizes for the Raffle :
*Mount Hood Meadows Seasons Pass!
*one pair of LINE SKIS from 2nd Wind Sports
*one Snowboard set up from IPS Skate Shop

The still growing list of sponsors and prizes grows with each hour -
We have boxes of hats, goggles, sunglasses, facemasks, caps, t-shirts, hoodies, DVD movies, socks, cozies, backpacks, gloves, mitts, etc.......

BTW - We are still looking for volunteers to help work the front door with entry ticket and raffle ticket sales.

T-minus 7hrs and counting down to the start of the HR Snow Show.

I Stayed up late last night working with the set up crew to hang up the monster screen, have my ears blown off by the monster AREA54 sound system, and setting up our 2nd Wind Sports display booth.

This screen is frickin' awesome, 26ft wide and 20ft tall. We have seating for 315 people and space in the back in case we get more. I'll be happy if we get at least 150 people, then we can cover all room costs and come out with some extra cash for the ski and snowboard teams. Over 200 ppl will be icing on the cake.

Look forward to seeing all of you who plan to attend.

BTW - Did we mention the grand prizes in the raffle are :
1 - Seasons Pass to Mt Hood Meadows
1 - pair of LINE Sir Francis Bacon Skis
1 - Snowboard package.
This is in addition to the over 100 other shwag raffle prizes.

Thank you all for coming to the show last night. Glad to see a bunch of our kiter clan in attendance.
The HR Snow Show was a great success. $1000 was raised for local our ski and snowboard teams, and everyone went home with armloads of shwag and raffle prizes. We had no idea how many people would be in attendance, so we rallied up enough prizes/shwag for 350 people, but when 200 show up, then everyone goes home super shwag happy.

I hate to have to post this, we decided to wait until after the show to keep it classy and legit, but we did have some thefts occur right before the show started. So, here is the deal :
**STOLEN**BLACK DIAMOND "MEGAWATT" skis and 1 new snowboards stolen from the IPS/2nd Wind display booths @ HR Snow Show, Nov21. The thefts occurred between 10am and 4pm when hotel staff left a kitchen door unlocked. $50 reward for any information that leads to the return of these items. Contact 2nd Wind at (541)386-4464 (these are a one of a kind items that we will recognize very quickly on or off the hill)

Okay, back onto the good stuff.
As Phil mentioned, the screen and sound system were beyond belief awesome. Now we need to work on a way to do this in the Spring time for a kite film premiere. Will post photos once I get some.

What's with these people . Are they that desperate ? Can't they work to get things like others do . I mean if your down and out , others help through things like these fundraisers and social programs .
Oh wait , thats right there are many of your countrymen that don't want social programs like the locked post talks about , stop.
Stealing at the event site is bad enough but this has to be one of the lowest things .
My opinion only , it's how you were raised that mostly dictates how you interact with the rest of society.
