Sun May 31, 09 9:10 amhow to signal "please pass"
Yesterday at the spit, I was out in the channel trying to make my upwind when another kiter was riding behind me on my port (upwind) side. I normally don't have a problem with this but he parked his kite 10' almost directly over my head. This made me a little nervous. I shifted downwind and he shifted with me, I shifted upwind and we nearly crossed lines. Is there an easy way for me to let him know to just go ahead and pass me without charging downwind myself? _________________ It's always happy hour somewhere in the world.

"What we have here is a failure to communicate"
...............................................................................Cool Hand Luke
"Beep" = "Get out of my way"
"Beep, Beep" = "Get the F@#K out of my way"
"Beep, Beep,Beep" = "God D@#M it, get the F@#k out of my way...I am going to 'bust a move'!"
I thought we could get by with just 3 standard signals, but....OK....so,
"Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep" = "Cease and desist the F@#King Dangling!"

LMAO Now all I would need is a helmet launched mini-missile to take out the kite parked over my head. No tailgating, bitches! _________________ It's always happy hour somewhere in the world.

Down loop your kite and ride the other way. Just not worth any more effort than that. You might have "right a way" etc, sometimes it is just easier to get away.

Doesn't riding at the spit in the summar pretty much mean there is a kite "directly over your head" at any given time?
Just boost an invert and bonk that thang!

yesterday at the sandbar.
Guy standing or drifting near the sand bar with kite parked at 12:00...like for at least 10 minutes. no problem, I pass upstream/downwind of him, probably about 20 feet away. he says to me "Please stay out of my way". I was like HUH??!!
So in true thunderdome style I flipped him the bird and yelled, 'NO, you stay out of MY way"
Is that the appropriate signal?

I shit you not, I recently installed a go joe on my board, I have not had to worry about crowding one bit. I see people coming at me, they see my go joe and they dive their kite head the other way. It is also good at keeping the wind surfers at bay. The best $60 bucks I have spent. _________________ MS

Strapless kite-loop to airwalk (sneakers add flair - board sadly buried in the swell) that seemed to clear folks out at the WS bridge
Monkey I believe the appropriate response is to point and mouth "Dead Meat"

ohh, that probably would have been better. I was thinking maybe "this is my sand bar bitch" but since I live in portland...figured that wouldn't be cool.
In general, I am gravely disappointed you have again made me unleash my dogs of war.
