and the research concluded that foil kites fly great but are not that super for the water |

Ooops. They did all the testing with the kite upside down. They'll have to do it all over again....
I wonder if Flysurfer is thinking about producing "kiteplanes" instead of foils. They might produce more lift, but they'd lay flat on the water if they went down and probably be impossible to relaunch.
I think I'll hold out for one of those cool new 2008 Latitude kites I've been reading about in the locked thread section of my local forum. _________________ Lets FLY |

Wow ?
What the fuk was that supposed to be for ? They did not reveal much info did they . I fly a 13m extacy and also have waroos . Foils are awesome power in the light winds and on snow so you dont have to worry about relaunch probs . But in light winds on the water with no bottom to stand on when it hits the water your in trouble . Ive been told the newer ones ie Pulse are good but I have not seen anyone relaunch them in deep water either ! Oh I almost forgot , the importer told me the trick is not to let it hit the water as his doesn't . I guess you have to be a pro to fly them and keep them off the water or just dont try anything other than straight riding , after all mistakes are made trying new things . I have seen the doctor lightwind videos on you tube in like 4mph wind with the 19m Silver arrow , he relaunches as well but is standing on the bottom not in deep water where you cant put any resistance against the kite and it just pulls you along instead of lifting off the water . Does anyone know of a video where a foil relaunches in deep water . I'd like to see it . Also in light wind the window becomes narrower and at the edges your foil kite will have a tendency to have the wing tips fold in and then it starts to fall out of the sky , untill it slowly heads back into the window and wham it catches good wind and you better release or hang on for dear life . I will say they are built of quality material and will last a long time only my body took a beating learning on the extacy , waroos are much easier for an old guy like myself .
Just my two cents worth of ranting , I just love to see the sky full of whatever kites and kiters having fun ! |
