Hey guys -my friend and I are shop teachers at the local high school and we need some advice.

We have an after school club for kids who enjoy building/creating. In the past we have built snowboards, skis, skateboards, dunebuggies, blacksmithing and the like. We have a few students who are breaking into kiting. Do you have any good "how -to" resources on building kiteboards? thanks in advance!

If interested check out some of their projects:

A Kite Board is any board you Kite with. You can use a twin tip with sraps, a surf board with wax, or a SKIM BOARD. Many a broke student has made there own SKIM BOARD.
All you need is a pattern and some marine grade ply wood. If you wanted to get fancy you could paint them and glass them

Step One trace a Hien Board

Step Two cut out, sand, and router it

Step Three Ride it with wind or no wind, Every kid can skim board

I made my own version of a plywood glide a few years ago it's really easy....just like the post said trace buddies board....cut....sand...varnish = cheap board that rocks in light wind or great for a beginner.

heres a couple posts on making your own board....you can google more if you want.

Here is a search of some stuff i've watched on youtube. The JDTV stuff is quick and dirty, informative. The CNC kiteboard building is cool too.
