well since I spent 11 hrs at my booth at the homeshow today, I hope you all got some good pics to post of Shasta.

I am hoping to get down there in the next few weeks and check it out. thats if the north wind doesn't demand me to follow her to the beach for some romance . Wink

Northwest winds made the ski bowl non-kiteable, so we took everyone to another great area. It was really good in the morning, as the day got warmer the winds got lighter. I wasn't able to get the killer actions shots we all love to see, but did get some nice kitescape photo's. i'll post up a short vid after some editing.

BIG THANKS TO THE SUPPORTERS, AND EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT.

I should be able to make it. Anyone interested in carpooling? I was thinking about staying and riding saturday, sunday, and monday. And does anyone know about the sleeping arrangements - any motels nearby?

SISKIYOU MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES-
INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...HOWARD PRAIRIE...SISKIYOU SUMMIT
544 PM PDT WED MAR 26 2008

...SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING..

A SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING.

A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL BRING SNOW SHOWERS THROUGH THIS
EVENING. ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED THIS EVENING. IN ADDITION TO THE SNOW...BREEZY SOUTHWEST
WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL CAUSE AREAS OF REDUCED VISIBILITIES.

A SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY
TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND
LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

I'll Have a better wind forecast soon, but for now it looks like by saturday the low pressure trough will have traveled thru. Which would mean lighter winds and bigger kites.
Make sure to be careful traveling, back to the winter roads. (snowpack)
I recommend bringing 2-3 kite sizes, 13-17m, 9m-11m,5m-8m. Mt. Ashland is the highest point of the siskyou's, One of the most reliable riding area's down here.

Looking forward to riding with you all!

-matty (sol)

PostThu Mar 27, 08 9:13 am    WIND FORECAST UPDATE Reply with quote

Well kids,.....

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. West northwest wind between 9 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Looks like the low pressure will indeed pass thru by saturday. Leaving us with NW winds. The original venue location is on the southside, So we will have to move further towards the summit(which is a lil further hike). The summit area is more intermediate-advanced, due to the steepness of the slope. For those of you who this will be their first time, it will be tricky to get the concept of riding downhill/upwind....Vise versa for going uphill/upwind.

We will continue as planned, But we will not be able to some of the activity's we wanted to do.

ON A SIDE NOTE:....
sunday is ride against hunger day on Mt.A
Mt. Ashland will host "Ski and Ride Against Hunger Day" on Sunday, March 30th. Skiers and snowboarders will receive a FREE all day lift ticket with a minimum donation of five cans of nonperishable food. The recipient of this community event is ACCESS Inc., a Community Action Agency. Last year 182 participants generated 1050 pounds of food equaling 1000 meals. Mt. Ashland donated $7,098 in lift tickets to guests.
