Hmmm wish I could say... Trends at Sauvies are often only a week long, then everything changes. One night it will be good early, next it will be good later. Then it will be good all night.
It does seem though that spring is a much better season for Sauvies than Fall. More water coming down the river means more current. Stronger North winds more consistantly. Sun stays up later.

George your forecast was correct for yesterday. 5:30 - 6:30 average was around 15 kts pretty steady, 7 average was around 11 kts and more gusts and lulls. I see you are forecasting same again today and then a bit more for tomorrow. Hope it happens. I need to check the tides, seemed to be going downwind more than in the past last night. At least there's plenty of room to walk back from my unplanned downwinders. paul Last edited by pauls on Mon Apr 24, 06 10:12 am; edited 1 time in total |

George -
9/7 was pretty strong/gusty winds at Sauvies. I think anything from a 9m-13m kites were on the water. Probably blowing 15-25mph. Maybe even more.... sand was blowing on the beach at times. Wind direction kept switching from WNW (a bit offshore) to N (side on.)
NOAA forecast looks similar for today, hopefully a little cleaner wind, but I'll take another day like yesterday too. |

I guess I was way low on the forecast for 9/7 (and 9/8 ). The ETA MOS seems to be doing a better job than me........ |
