Waterfront Parking
Event Site Annual Parking passes are available to purchase online on the Port website: https://portofhoodriver.com/waterfront-recreation/purchase-event-site-parking-passes/ There are no longer preseason discounts because the passes are now valid annually. Regular Passes are valid at the Event Site parking lot, Lot #1 (dirt lot behind the Event Site) and select spots in the Jensen West parking lot. Overlength passes are valid at the Event Site and Lot #1 only, they are not valid for the West Jensen Lot. Passes are not valid for on-street parking.
The Event Site Booth will open Memorial Day weekend and passes will be available to purchase onsite at that time.
On May 23rd the Oregon State Police will be conducting a training exercise with their vessels around Wells Island from 12-5pm. They will have 2-12 vehicles at the Hook and may cone off a section of the parking area. If it’s warm and windy it may be congested so please share with your associated user groups.

Park Management Hours and Access
All beaches, parks, access points and the Waterfront Trail are open to the public regular hours like any other year. 6:30am-9pm. The Hook, Event Site, Spit and Marina Gates are closed from 9pm-6:30am. Night Security will lock the gates, Facility crew will open them.
The Event Site (ES) Beach will close to kite launching from the grass the week before Memorial Day Weekend (5/18/22) due to expected crowds and safety concerns. 5/23/22 is Victoria Day and with the Canadian borders open it may be very busy if the weather is nice. The ES will remain closed to kite launching until late September when the season slows down. All launching and landing of kites must take place from the Sandbar when the grass/beach area is closed.

Restrooms
Port public restrooms are currently closed. This includes the Event Site, Marina Beach, HRYC building, Marina Boat Ramp. The Port tentatively plans to reopen all restrooms 8am-6pm 5/27/2022 when additional summer and weekend staff becomes available. If we don’t have staff they won’t open. If we have limited staff, the Event Site Restroom takes priority, with the Boat Ramp, Marina Point and Moorage restrooms opening in that order.
Port-a-Potties have been put in place and numbers will increase as needed until restrooms reopen. Hand washing stations will be provided in certain locations.
i. Starting May 1st: Hook-2, Event Site-2, Nichols-1, Spit-1, Boat Ramp-2, Moorage-1, Marina Point-1.

ii. If restrooms are open, then Port-a-Potty numbers will remain the same. If they are not open then the numbers will increase at the Event Site, Moorage and Marina Park.

Dog Stations/Animal Control
Dog Stations have been removed until further notice. Dog owners should bring their own bags and pack them out. Stocking and emptying the trash cans associated with the dog stations requires staff that we currently don’t have. If we do have enough staff year around for the foreseeable future, then we will consider reinstalling them. This is low priority behind getting the restrooms and trash can service reinstated.

Event Site Parking Booth & Host
Mt. Hood Meadows parking agreement expires 4/15/22.
As of April 13st 325 # of Regular and 7 # of Overlength Annual Parking Passes have been sold. They are valid January 1st-December 31st. Early season sales are up significantly from last year. We do not have a cut-off number for selling passes due to the availability of Lot #1 parking.
i. Event Site has 192 regular size (22’ and under) spaces and 13 over-length.

ii. Jensen West has 59 regular length spaces available for the public and pass holders.

All vehicles in the ES Lot and Lot #1 must have passes or pay to park. Street Parking is for paid parking at kiosks only, passes are not valid. Jensen West lot has spots designated for regular length season passes, but not overlength.
Event Site Parking Booth opens 5/27/22. Depending on staff availability, it will be open daily 8am-6pm until Labor Day. If we have limited staff the hours will get reduced likely on Monday-Thursday.
Starting 5/27/21 through Labor Day, the Event Site Parking Lot will have the chain put up nightly. The lot opens at 6:30am and the gate closes at 9pm.
Event Site Host, Doug Newcomb, returns 4/15/22. He assists Port Staff with parking, signage, lost and found, dog education and general peacekeeping.
Legacy Event Site Hosts Sharon and John Chow may also return to the Event Site for a spell this summer depending on the state of affairs and crossing the border. We may have double hosts! Does it get any better than that? 😊

Lot #1 Parking
Starting Friday May 1st through late September, Lot #1 will remain unlocked for Event Site overflow parking. Hours are 6:30am-9pm (same as our Parks) No overnight parking. Event Site Day and Season Parking Passes are valid, or people can pay by the hour by using the kiosks.
Best Defense Security will monitor at night.

Parking Enforcement
Port Parking Enforcement will continue to patrol all Port Waterfront locations. We are planning on expanding this position into a Waterfront Host/Parking Enforcement position in hopes of providing a better experience on the Waterfront.
Best Defense Security covers night parking enforcement.
