Tue Jun 30, 20 11:25 am NICOLA LAKE ACCESS UPDATE |
|
|
I recently had the opportunity to have a conversation with the Recreational Manager of the Nicola Lake; Day Use/Old Sailing Club property, now named Quilchena Point RV. They were receptive to the Interior Kiteboarding and Windsurfing Society contacting them and have requested the following:
ยท In order for kiteboarders and windsurfers to use the site they must qualify as a recreating RVer, have a self contained RV that has an onboard washroom and sleeping facilities (Covid 19 park rules), reserve an available RV site in advance (no drop-ins) with a minimum of 2 nights stay. Thee arrangements can be made by email at reservations@douglaslake.com. There is no exception to this as the business model has drastically changed. The Douglas Lake Cattle Company has also communicated that this activity will only be permitted at the day use area this season and is a trial, which will be reviewed in late October for the upcoming years.
There have been kiteboarders who have been using the property without the permission of Douglas Lake Ranch. Their perception is that the kiteboarders are trespassing, and in response they have put up cameras to monitor the situation. Should the perceived trespassing continue, charges will be laid and our access will be terminated indefinitely.
Our goal is to build a respectful relationship with the owners and guests, and it is up to all of us to do so, otherwise this spot could be forever closed to any wind sport enthusiasts.
Thank you, all the best to you. |
