Heading down to La Ventana. I booked a flight with United Airlines. Big mistake. I received notification today of an "Excess Baggage Embargo" that is in effect starting Nov 15. Basically, they don't accept any oversize luggage, and no sports equipment. Had to change my flight to Alaska, but the cancellation will cost me. Just want to help someone else avoid the same mistake.

I just flew to Maui and back from PDX and paid a total of $50 to fly (2) board bags there and back ! I managed to pack a surfboard / foil / harness and a couple kites in a rideengine surfboard travel bag 🤙🏽

If you get screwed like that. Post it on there twitter site. The last thing United wants is angry customers. I just flew United, there planes are full. People on domestic flights are traveling lighter. They have high baggage fees. When going to Cabo always fly Alaska!

I stopped flying with them period. I canceled my Mileage Plus and will not use them unless the ticket is heavily discounted. They treat passengers like cattle. If you are over 6' good luck to be able to fit in your seat. Dirty airplanes often running late. Their CEO Smisek got kicked out for some dirty stuff. I bet he took some millions with him while passengers suffer. Just compare the level of air traveling with the same from movies from 40 years ago. No comparison. Former coach is today's first class. Soon we will pay for using toilet. Screw them. Stay at home. Expensive and unpleasant experience.

+1 for Alaska!! Just friendlier service. Sometimes flight schedules aren't the best(east coast mainly) but their baggage policy alone is worth supporting. Delta is pretty similar to United - even if you have their rewards card & fly 1st or premium class.
