I lost my new board last week on 8/16/18 at the Event Site. After several hours of searching I have assumed I need to just get a replacement board. Today I received a post card from someone that obviously has my board. My board only had my last name and cell number so this person went to the effort of tracking down my full name and address to send me a post card from Multnomah Falls with a witty comment about a hairy ride through the fish ladder and that my board will see me soon! See attached
Is there some kind of initiation to new kiteboarders or is someone just having fun at my expense?

The finder is clearly an aficionado of children’s books. There is a beautiful witty book “ the day the crayons cane home”, which chronicles the travels of a set of lost crayons all through postcards written to their owner from the crayons. It’s quit a treasure for the little ones in your life and fun for adults to read.

I write, “Return for Rewards!”, along with all the info I think someone might need to help them get my board back to me. Name, number, email address, and even my home address.

Knock on wood, I’ve gotten every awol board back. I think that’s four for four, times when I just gave up and dragged in. Case of their choice of beer, cash, a bottle of something.

At least you got a nice card and not a ransom note with little cut out letters pasted to the paper.

Usually it’s text or phone call to set up a meet. Return address? Maybe it’s a pen pal thing now?

Good luck!

Go to the library and read the book to see what happens.

this is only true if you told no one that you lost your board.

First off let me just say that perhaps this might be a good opportunity for self reflection on your body dragging skills. Of course I make this statement not knowing anything about the situation other than you are probably a new kiter (based upon number of posts) and you lost your board...

This being said I don't see how this is any different than someone stealing your board. It may have been funny for a day or two, but you are missing out on kiting. You have made thousands of dollars in investment towards gear and lessons, and now someone thinks it is funny to hide your board from you as they get their kicks.

My recommendation is to go buy another board and move on. If you do eventually receive your board then perhaps update this post... But don't feed fuel to someone holding your personal property hostage by posting all the postcards online.

Run far... run fast. Let this one go. This has bad outcome written all over it. Do as Big John suggested. Don’t mess with lunatics, they’re not safe.

Hey I am going to keep the positive vibes flowing and say your board will get back to you. Someone is seriously bored though to be doing what they are that's for sure. I would look for a cheap substitute in the mean time.

Yeah, this seems to be way more likely a friend of yours screwing with you.

I don't think your board was found.

Check the classifieds for a replacement and get back out there!
