Please can anyone who kited Sauvies last night tell me what the wind speed was or what size kite you were on? at 6 pm it was 11-12 kts gusting to 14 kts. At about 6:45 it filled in and at 7:30 it was 18 kts gusts to 20 kts. It was great!!!

I'm trying to figure out how the wind speed varies between Sauvies and Frenchman's bar on any given night.

Thanks - Paul

hey paul,

i was on my 12 from 5:30 until 7 when the wind just quit. one guy was out on a torch 16 after 7 but, just doing downwinders and walking back up. i packed it in about 7:15 so, not sure what happened after that.

Yeah its been really good 13m until around 7:30pm then it turns light, though it could have just been the tide/current last night.

the wind at 7 was dismal. my 16 (yellow airrush) was barely staying in the sky. i was forced into the walk of shame and praying for something better. then around 8pm things kicked in and filled up. it was good for about an hour and required a little pumping of the kite...but no walking and enough power for some jumping. nice solo runs with a deserted beach and a few geese (a gaggle).

it sounds like it was much better where you were "pauls." when you say you were at woodland where exactly were you?

Not as clean as Sauvies for setting out your gear but it's okay. just north of Frenchmans bar - fantastic clean empty beach and you can get out easily for more than 2 mile s downwind - but i'm starting to think the wind is less strong there. I live in Vancouver so Sauvies is pain to drive to versus woodland which takes 20 minutes!

you can always check what Sauvie's was doing at: http://www.deq.state.or.us/lab/aqm/RThourlyConc.asp?StaNo=14152&Para=All

plus current it is pretty close to actual speed.
