Wed Jan 20, 16 8:01 pm In Snow, Wind and You I trust! |

Arrived in HR this morning, bringing the trusty Summits and my skis, I picked up the cooler, BBQ and a few inflatables from storage. I am heading out early in the morning on a snowkite vagabondage.
Every year I meet groups of snowkiters from Wyoming, Utah and beyond when they come up in the Spring to snowkite Thompson Pass or to backcountry kite in the Chugach and listen to their tales. It's time to venture out and experience the stories and places I hear about from them year after year.
Heading to Camas first since it's on the way and the forecast looks promising for the next few days, after that I'll make my way to Utah unless divine intervention sends me elsewhere.
I've an open schedule and two weeks so if anyone has ideas, thoughts, wants to meet up or has some advice - please feel free to say hello - my mind and ears are open.

Well the forecast has been great for the Camas Prairie - but the actual has not.
The past few days have been gifted me some light wind action, but I want more and my vagabondage continues.
I'm hoping for some action today and tomorrow here before I continue through Wyoming and Utah.
Thanks Wayne on the Bondurant info - Looks like more snow for you in the next couple of days. I like it, might have to fatten up the skis a little.

Tue Jan 26, 16 7:16 am Snowkiting around Strawberry Reservoir |

I've had pretty good luck here in Utah so far. Fun sessions despite not having powder skis. I was able to kite from the Lookout on Strawberry Reservoir - good fun conditions between 6 to 10" of fresh snow, some rolling hills to climb around. Yesterday I was at the snowpark pullout at mile 37 of US 40 - Handful of locals and a few visitors playing around on the flaky wind. Was able to climb around more and enjoy the scenery. Definitely a fun place when conditions are right.
I'm still hoping to come north Wayne - work may call me back early. May have to be a February and March visit before Snowkite Jam back home.
