All my winters in the gorge I always followed the 120 degree rule. 40 degree air temp, 40 degree river and wind gusting near 40. Swimming across the river from viento to Washington was very heavy. Warm tea never tasted so good. Not smart to kite in the cold

Most days you're the kiter. Today, you're the kite.

I'm pretty sure the wind meter at Rooster was just frozen/encrusted in ice from the freezing rain overnight and didn't thaw out until after noon.

As for the 100 degree rule, you can't add degrees to MPH, the air and water temps must add up to 100, so it has only been around 80 lately.
