definitely ride one before you purchase - not all boards are created equal

Onad may need more float...

We tried a 5-0 Space Pickle and sent it back. Too much drag mostly from rails being way to soft but also due to it being a quad. There were some QC issues with that board. Tried a T-Rex also. Not a winner either.

Byerly Hazard and Phase5 Wire are our present favorites. Also riding some of my kiteboards set up as twins. Twins seem a lot faster and are able to recover from the back of the waver easier so we take the rear fins out. Crisp rails and flat rockers also help a lot from our experience.

New Slingy's look interesting but would want to demo them also. Bigger guys need a lot of surface area to ride behind the boat.

Hoping to get out today if the wind stays flat enough.

I've kited all sizes of the Space Pickle Wakesurfer (Ankle Biter in 2015) and love it. I've also played with the 5' behind a boat, but am far from a wake regular so couldn't compare it or review it in that market. (but I like it with the rear fins off)

Be curious to know which of the new wakesurfers are good behind a kite.
From pictures/size it looks like the Cobra Cat would be the pick for kiting.
And there is that new wakesurfing "butter bar" board which looks more like a thick skim. Fun toys... Smile

The SP 5-0 is my go to board for tandem with the kids behind the boat. It has a nice longboard feel to it and a very mellow ride.

Cool trick and looks like the SP is working great for you.
Maybe we just didn't give it a chance to find a place in our quiver.

Here is our daughter riding the Phase5 Wire and attempting her first 360.

And Alex riding the Byerly Hazard:

The SS wake surf boards have always seemed a little slower to me. Phase 5 boards are pretty sweet and much more skim style, if thats what you're into. But I'm looking forward to demoing the SS surf boards as they have changed their design quite a bit. Are you looking to actually wake surf or kite board with these boards?

Anyone thought of turning one of these into a foil board ? I have an older reform but it is to flexy.

Not exactly on point, but I'd rec you look at Inland Surfer as they've got it pretty much dialed in. I've been riding a Red Woody (I don't think they still build this model) for years and I have zero complaints. Well, perhaps the name. Can't imagine I'll drag the boat to HR again this season, but if you want to give it a try next year, drop me a line. Might still hit the John Day a few more times this year, depending on the weather. We rarely wakesurf anymore (burns a lot of fuel, pain in the ass, etc) unless we're beat to hell form wakeboarding and there's just too much day left to allow it to go to waste (and we're not screwing up other folks' session on the water).

Total dbag, bro move, but only shot of the board from the one time we wakesurfed this season:

talk to PKH

the space pickle is actually fun - with just two fins (not spritely but fun carving) the thick rails and volume make it pretty easy to start out on your belly on tow - let go - paddle and jump to your feet

We also have fun on the 30 year old inland surfer but

Phils and Rollo's boards are much higher performance

Dano were currently riding Soulcraft boards...the Slingshot boards in the past have been super slow and boring I havent tried this years models I have heard they are better. You should come out with us sometime and try our boards. Something to think about too is what kind of wave your riding I like different boards for different peoples boats
