It's Tuesday Night racing at the sand bar. Have your gear ready to go for the 5:30 racers meeting and bring a helmet if you have one. It could get a little crazy, but only if you want. Tonights race will have more buoys for the slalom course and more laps around the course. BBQ and Beer afterwards at the Storm Warning Tent in the parking lot.

Heads Up- Slingshot is holding the Kiter Cross event of the year at the event site on the 16th of July. More details coming soon.

Unfortunately the wind did not fully cooperate last night, but the theme of fun was definitely still in full force... Here are some images of the brave few that took to the water last night in fluky wind conditions... The light was just as difficult as the wind, so I apolgize for the average images.

I am not sure how the finishing order went, but I am pretty sure that Alex and Amery were the only two to even finish the course...

Enjoy... Jon

Kiter Cross results Week 3

Alex Peterson Slingshot Machine
Amery Bernard Cabrinha
Tucker (ASI) Slingshot

Picking the right size kite is always a tough choice but this week it proved to the difference between being able to race or sitting on the sideline. Minutes before the race started the wind died down to 10 knots and over half the racers had to put there kites down and watch. Amery, Alex, and Tucker were the only ones with enough juice to make it to the upwind start on time and then the start flag went down and they charged through the slalom course downwind and made there first attempt to make it back up wind for a total of three laps. After the first lap, Alex went to shore and traded his 14m Octane for a 17.5m Machine and hopped on 151 SX (Isn’t it nice to have a kite caddy). It didn’t take him long to catch the field and soon he was lapping riders and took first place. Amery charged hard on his skim board for second place and an ice cold six pack. Tucker and I were both underpower and discovered it was faster to run our kites back to the upwind slalom course than to make slow upwind progress in the middle of the river. We created the newest event called the Kite biathlon. Eventually we both finished and met up the Storm Warning tent to recap the race while Slingshot President, Jeff Logosz BBQ’ed some dogs and made sure all racers had there beverage of choice. Thanks to all of you who came out.

Hey Aaron, thanks for running the event... its always fun to have something to look forward to each week.

Only thing I'd request is that we get an earlier start next time, seems like the wind always gets flakey/dead after 6 anyway. How 'bout it?

Thanks again!
