I've been saving up all winter and would love to get into the sport as soon as possible but it looks like the kiteboarding schools won't open till mid-may. Does anyone out there know of some way to get out there asap? Does anyone want to take in a greenhorn?

The boys at Floras lake were doing lessons this past weekend. Can't think of a better environment, gear and instructors to learn from.

Broken record. Go to floras to learn and have the most enjoyable time and steadiest wind. Nate is great but the sites to learn up here can be intimidating and not as fun. Give will or Andy a call or reed and josh and head to bandon if you really want to successful and have a great time.

this would be a great alternative that is close. I have seen Joe on the water and he looks dialed. have never met him but someone with a ski who is willing to move from jones to beacon rock sounds like the second best option or first if you want to stay within a hundred mile driving radius. Hit joe up and get out on the water now. almost summer water levels and the river just hit 50 wooohooooo

Gorge Kiteboard School is open for the season.

I had a very nice lesson last Friday afternoon off the sandbar. The water wasn't too cold and winds were steady.

Of course the crowds on the sandbar are a big problem at this time of year, a kiteboarder went by during the lesson and we were almost distracted for a second.

I am planning on a free safety clinic 10:00am Saturday May 2 at the Event Site to cover board recovery and self rescue. Please spread the word.

Mark, I really like your safe and efficient teaching style. I've learned so much from you, even now that Im getting into more advanced skills. Glad to see you back for so many seasons! I'll be seeing you soon to take a few more lessons this year. Mark S.
