No problem, jerp. I thought it was pretty cool that even though I was helping you out , we still had people kiting by waving and shouting at us and pointing to your board so that you didn't loose it. So great to ride in a spot where everyone looks out for each other.

Thanks again Kevin, I owe you a six pack the next time I am down there or if you live in Portland let me know.

Yesterday I was back in the same area riding upwind of the buoy keeping an eye on guy with a downed Kite ( I think an orange LF Solo) , kind of ironic.

ya i figured that would stir the pot a little. so:

self landing is far more important than self launching (or assisted launching)

10-35 or worse is exactly why you NEED to be able to self land. 100% confidently.

you can't ditch the kite with a double release and endanger some bystander downwind.

get it.

proper kite leashes work. a single centerline leash will flag out and drop any kite, ever. use it confidently.

. Also, some kites self land much better than others. .

self landing has nothing to do with the kite, and everything to do with the control bar.

not all control bars use a single centerline leash system, but nearly all brands are using them on their bars now (almost)

i cannot speak for the effectiveness of any other system, some may tell you they work fine.

but i will assure you that a free traveling single centerline leash system will definitely completely drop your kite, whatever kite it is.

finally if you know how it works, you know there is no line tangle up issue

this is not a team sport.

yall can start a new thread if you want talk about it, or just pm or call me
