Tragically, the sun sets on another kite enthusiast.
The worst kind of loss is one that leaves behind young children.
My heart goes out to them.
Remember the following so her loss
may remind you to ride another day.
This sport is extreme,
You can be severely injured or killed.
Something that should be printed
in big bold yellow letters
on the leading edge of every kite.
A duty to warn by the industry
Take a moment to think about that phrase,
when you take the loop in your hand,
place it over your harness hook,
and give the thumbs up.

I didn't know Christina as well as many in town, but she was my friend. Christina was a kind, wonderful person and an integral part of the hood river community. She radiated joy and positivity. She was an amazing mom to her 2 girls. She was a talented artist and a master gardener, who delighted in giving away the bounty of her garden to friends. She was a ripping skier and kiter. She was both a total sweetheart who gave great hugs and a bad ass, who used the F-word prolifically, but it always sounded sweet.
She is so loved.
This is hard for so many.
Seemed like a hundred people held hands at the waterfront park last night at a short notice gathering, thinking good thoughts for her and her family.
Like someone said last night, Christina believed that "life is too short to be grumpy."
She would want us all to Enjoy.
Know that her family will be watched over well by the community, especially by an army of Hood River Moms.
If I find out there are ways for the kiting community to help, I will post it here.

I did not know Christina, but her passion for life and obvious love of family and friends will live on. If I did see her dancing on the waves, I'm sure she was an inspiration to see. She played in the wind...and now she is the wind.
I'll light a candle for her.
My heart goes out to her children and all the people in the kiting and HR community that are deeply affected by this tragic loss.

I will miss sharing the swells, the hucking, the passing smile at the white salmon bridge. There will be a big void up there next year without your presence!

One last word for her, I wasn't a real "friend", just another kiter on the spit, another person she smiled at, used her eloquent English so funny, always grabbed and launched my kite, and ripped it up in water.
DAMN!!!!
That's for you girl.....
RIP

She will surely be missed -
Christina was always out there with the guys on the super windy days, swell riding and going big! Usually 5-6 guys and Christina with her purple board. I'd see that thing overhead; wow.
I always looked forward to her being out there sharing the stoke.
Thoughts and Prayers,
