I was checking out ikitesurf.com and found an advertisment for "Monkey Kites" I was wondering if anyone has ridden these kites or have used them before. They are relatively inexpensive and the wind range on the 9M is 16-45 Shocked

They claim that taking out the center strut gives it some advantages?? Don't know how this would really work. But if anyone has experience with these kites I would be glad to hear about them.

Don't know anything about Monkey Kites, but this was discussed on kiteforum.com a bit. You can search for it there. I think the lack of a center strut is legit since the most force is applied to that part of the canopy anyway, and less support is needed. I think another company has done this as well (not sure but maybe WindWing)?

I believe the 07 north rhino doesn't have a center strut either, so monkey is not the only kite maker that has removed the center strut.

I remember seeing Dave T. out a 10m 07 rhino prototype last year at the spit, and he was just throwing insanely huge airs, one after the other after the other and cutting back up wind super quick. so yea, i dont think a center strut is necessary, at least on a bow shaped kite. Can't realy imagine my fuels without a center strut, it just seems weird.

I'd be weary of trusting a kite claiming a 29 mile an hour range. Kiteforum is a good place for people with their different theories on how kites fly. My theory is demo demo demo... try before you buy. Thumb's Up
