Sat Mar 26, 11 8:41 am Ozone Frenzy vs. Manta |
|
|
Hi, I know this question must have been asked many times, either on this forum or elsewhere... but I can't seem to find a straight answer. As the snow melts, there are some decent deals on snow-oriented foils, specifically the Ozone Manta and Frenzy (2011). I prefer high alpine glacier snowkiting, specifically in the north cascades and coast range. I like to ski uphill, explore, touring style. I prefer floating style flights over poppy, quick boosts. Given the unpredictability of alpine winds, I need stability. I am looking in the 9-12m range, to compliment my 6m access XT.
I am getting mixed responses from various forums. Some say the Manta is more stable, faster, and better for climbing. Some say the Frenzy is more stable, yet quicker turning, and eventually going to render the Manta obsolete.
Does anyone have any insight?

Why not ask Heather and Brian at Windzup? They are the Ozone kite distributors, great people, and they'll give you good info. They probably have more experience with those kites than anybody in the US.

get the frenzy! I have not really liked foils until this one! I only use them for riding in the mountains. the turning speed of the frenzy is amazing and the bar pressure is perfect. Really an amazing foil. wayne

I heard that Brian and Hillary are no longer the North American Ozone rep. Anyone know more on this?

Turning speed is pretty important when hillclimbing especially on steep slopes when flying the kite high is not an option,or in the trees. Brian and heather are still associated with ozone as reps but the distrubutor now is
