KB4K – Kiteboarding to Help Children in Need
The 4th annual KB4K fundraising kite competition rocked Cabarete, Dominican Republic last weekend! With perfect weather conditions and excellent participation, KB4K raised over $20,400. The money KB4K raises goes to 11 local charities working with disadvantaged kids living near Cabarete. KB4K is still fundraising to meet the $30,000 goal set for this year, so if you’ve been to Cabarete and would like a way to show your love to the community make a donation RIGHT NOW!

This year the top rider fundraiser, Dominican kite girl Mabraedy Martinez, won a kite and bar donated by BEST Kiteboarding. Mabraedy is also part of one of KB4K's beneficiary organizations, The Mariposa DR Foundation. Mariposa works with teenage girls, keeping them in school, as to break the cycle of poverty in the Cabarete community. Mariposa plans to use funds from this year's KB4K to buy beds for some of the Mariposa girls who don't have a bed of their own.
Besides awesome kiteboarding action on the water the beach was a vibrant scene of fun and games...and hot dogs.
The event was presented by title sponsor SOLOSHOT, an innovative tripod/armband combo that films you automatically while you practice kiteboarding, surfing, soccer etc.. SOLOSHOT inventor, Chris Boyle, was on hand during the event, making sure the competitor's heats were captured on video.
