Just a heads up for anyone who is planning on heading out in to the backcountry this winter. This is a free basic clinic presenting the basics of avalanche awareness, avoidance and safety.
AVALANCHE AWARENESS CLINIC
When : Tuesday, Dec 9th starting around 6:30pm
Where : Dog River Coffee Co, Hood River, OR
Cost : Free!
It’s never too soon to start thinking about avalanches in the backcountry.
This free clinic is for those who are snowshoeing, hiking, snowboarding or skiing the winter backcountry.
Glenn Kessler, veteran NW Climbing Ranger and owner/instructor of MOUNTAIN SAVVY, will present an introduction into types of avalanches, avalanche terrain, snowpack analysis, weather considerations, preparation and safe travel techniques.
This clinic also presents an opportunity to see if a full Avalanche Level 1 course might be of interest for you to consider

| I've paid for Glenn's course. It was worth it and I really enjoyed the course. Glenn is very passionate about backcountry riding and makes the course more about that activity than about dying in avalanches. |
