Convert T2 bar to T3

Anyone convert your T2 bar to a below-the-bar safety system like on the T3?

Unfortunately the parts to convert the bar are unavailable at this moment.

I'm sure that eventually Slingshot will work out a way to offer the parts, but not anytime very soon.

Hey Nak! Did you ever figure out some kind of home-made system that was a copy of the Slingshot system?

I tried to fabricate the plastic piece at the top of the depower rope that the safety line goes through, but material was a problem. Every metal I tried was too abrasive to the line. Best thing to do is find a Rev bar that's been run over or something and scavenge the parts. Very Happy

Or buy a Rev bar and convert it.

The conversion is definitely doable, but like Pepi said, parts are the issue. Also, If you're not VERY comfortable with modding bars, and VERY diligent about checking, rechecking and live testing of all of your work, then don't mess with it. The Rev/T3 safety system is second to none, but must be done properly for it to work correctly. If you have any doubt at all about your ability, buy a T3 bar when they're available.

A couple of things to keep in mind if you do the mod. The front lines MUST be spliced 800 pound spectra line. No sleeving or it won't work. The line sets are available from Slingshot if you're not comfortable splicing line. If you use a Rev line-set, your back leader lines will need extensions approximately 26 inches long. Better yet, make new leader lines.

The T2 works great with this safety, at least it seems to with my limited testing. Really a worthwhile upgrade. The bridle is not as compact as on the T3, so you do have more chance of tangling... I use one of those little yellow stopper balls from Slingshot on the safety line to limit safety line deployment to the minimum necessary. This seems to really decrease the possibility of tangling on the T2, and decreases time to relaunch.

Thanks for the detailed response. I think I am going to try and pick up a T3 Kite/Bar if they are on sale, than look at using the bar for my T2 as well....or wait for a T3 bar to be available to buy a la carte.

Probably swing by the shop and consult once I have a little $$$.

Suicide it. Hook it to your depower line. Other option is to hook it to your chicken loop, just be sure no to pull your quick release or its bye bye kite
