Five launching sites at Stevenson?

Are there really five launching sites at Stevenson?

This map has water sport sites marked with a kite. I guess when I see a kite marking a site, I would expect to be able to kite there, which is obviously not a case. I found it amusing at a time. A failed attempt for of joke, never mind.

On the map Rock Creek Park site looks like possible beginner spot. Is it real? Anyone tried these other spots?

I've seen the map. Been wondering the same thing about Rock Creek Park.
Only ever hear or read about the East Point Launch Site.

I've checked out that map before. i think that inlet would be really, really flukey, and not fun at all, but that's a guess.
There's that sand bar on the other side of the bridge from there, that might be ok for a beginner, if an experienced kiter was there with them.
It does seem like there must be other launches in stevenson, but, there really not needed, the one we have is not really too crowded (yet).

As I understand it, the Port is in the paperwork stage of developing Leavens Point and it will provide a 2nd true launch although it will be wind shadowed while the ferry boat is at the dock. The other spots are either windsurfing or float / self rescue get out points. Good things to know but not usable for launching. The one in Rock Creek Park is a notta except for trainer kites in the park.

Also, the above pic is of the outrigger races hence the three paddles, paddleboats, spectators and only 1 kite.

The one kite is mine. Lots of very large Hawiians steping on my lines. Shocked

carol and or tony, how is the leavens point project coming? I remember talking to the port about it last year. They had submitted a JARPA to the Corps but the drawings and what not were pretty "back of the napkin". If memmory serves me correctly, the port needed some cash to help move all that dirt. I told John that I'm sure the KB community would hold a fundraiser to help out.

I think John has a permit application or some type of proposal into USACE. There has been some preliminary engineering done it, maybe one step up from a napkin. The Port and the County are discussing ideas for what to do with the excess material from Rock Creek and ways to minimize costs for both parties. Not sure anything will happen this year but could potentially happen before next year's in water work window closes.

I'll get an update at this week's Port meeting and post up what I find out.
