Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself and the shop. The Shop has been in Lincoln City since '79' and my wife and I purchased it 2 years ago.
We are getting ready to go into our 3rd season of being a full service kiteboarding retailer and our second season of having a fully certified instructor on staff. We carry Sling Shot, Best ,Dakine and Surftech to name a few and we are stoked about the upcoming season. I feel like the Lincoln City area has a lot to offer from flat water, begginer friendly Siletz bay to 6 mile plus or minus downwinders from Roads to Nelscott.
In addition to Kiting, I Surf and Tow and am super stoked to live where I do and feel blessed to be able to participate in these activities.
Look for updates and notices of closeouts/package deals etc. on gear in the near future.
If you have visited the shop in the last couple of years and have feed back I am interested in hearing it.

Hi Everyone,
First off I don't mean to trash this shop, this is more of a general buyer beware.
I'm glad to hear that the OR Surf Shop has, I think, changed hands and I don't mean to hurt your business Tim! It was a cool shop when I checked it out a few years back but I had a terrible experience there...
I went to The Oregon Surf Shop in December of 06 to pick up a wetsuit, booties, and gloves. I thought that I was going to be doing more winter kiting but it turns out that I'm not that tough.
Anyhow the story goes that my credit card number got lifted at that shop and shortly thereafter my credit card was used for major purchases at Sport Chalet in California.
I was there with a buddy, and neither one of us realized it but the clerk kept my card for a little bit longer than usual. I didn't think anything of it until I got a call from American Express asking me whether I had made an 1200 dollar purchase at sport chalet in California. Then attempted to make an additional purchase for 700 dollars (which AMEX had denied). I think it was an inside job because the way the sale was recorded was that someone had actually been there in the store and swiped the card, which was impossible because I always had the card with me (except when i handed it to the clerk) and I was in OR. I called sport chalet in CA after looking up the numbers to try and tip off the management and they were not at all useful.
I let them AMEX know that I didn't make the purchases and they eventually took the charge off the card but it was quite a hassle--which was weird because they contacted me and asked me if I had made the charge! Then I remembered that I had seen the guy making a note of something but just thought that he was recording a sale when he actually writing down my credit card number!
Anyhow it all got sorted out but this should just be a general reminder to keep an eye on clerks when you had them your card. I think AMEX ended up taking the initial hit for the 1200 bucks and I didn't have to pay anything.
Again no disrespect to OR Surf Shop current owner Tim (assuming you bought after Dec '06) but they guys before who had it were either shady or hired a bad apple. |

it could have been from spyware on your computer.... might not have been the shop... think back and remember if you happened to buy something (anything) online around that time... i had a similar experience when I bought kites from Best...but it wasn't Best... i think it was probably some malware.
it happens, just be thankful that your credit card company was looking out for you. _________________ ------------------------------ |
