According to all reports the easterlies that show up on Labor day happen 1 or 2 times a century this time of year. The Aleutian bomb will be sending 50-60 mph easterlies by tuesday. In Laramie Wyo. the temp will drop from 75 to 35 overnight. If you do kite have a buddy and a survival plan!

Read the report from the link below. "Historical event." Weathermen will be using duct tape to constrain their enthusiasm while on tv.

Anyone think Broughton beach by the airport will be blown out (50+) Tuesday?

Never seen easterly whitecaps like this at Rowena/Dougs.
Stevenson could go off HARD this afternoon.

Just rode my bike back from Meyer and saw one guy with a kite on the beach but not sure if he was coming or going. One hell of a tailwind home! Sprinkled in with random southerly gusts to make it interesting.

Agreed, I've been here a long time and haven't seen easterlies like this. Actually, with all that smoke there's not much you can see anyway! Those firefighters... true heroes.

At 2:30 today at Doug's it was 5-42 from the SE and Rooster is still westerly, the party hasn't started there yet! It is going to be a wild ride for the next 24 hours with nuclear winds and toxic smoke. Firefighters are the best!

I wonder how it would be, surfing Arlington from the other direction. I bet Blalock Canyon area will be oceanic before sundown.

Yesterday Rufus was powered 5m on a surfboard fun, not unusual except
Out of the East.
Smallish swell of course and everything felt off for a moment launching but once on the water it was fairly steady in the middle of the river. Both edges near the shores were crazy. Had to try a once in a lifetime thing. Worth it!

up here in Canad'er, southern Vancouver Island, we got a freakishly warm north-east session. The spots we were on normally only work in bitterly cold winter outflows ... it was super bizarre to be in hot wind. Should have trunked it or at least a shortie, oh well. "Next time" eh Wink

Pulled out my Airush 3 Meter today at Stevenson for a fairly stable session compared to the last two heinous days of diablo wind! Actually got to surf some rollers on my foil. Haven't seen that big of waves there before, 38 mph gust helps. Passed by Viento at 4, still whitecapping, which is unheard of this late in the day. Wild week of weather for sure! Another fire started N of Carson when we were out. Poor firefighters!
