Looking for somewhere to car camp near floras and all the campgrounds are booked. Can anyone PM me a google maps "pin" where I may be able to park for a night? The car is pretty low key.

Thanks!

...during a pandemic, are you sure you really oughtta go?

Free camping here, unless the lot is full, as it has been of late:

Check out the sixes river. We have camped there and there is a couple campgrounds. Good swimming holes and you get the sun as you are inland a little bit.

Pamdemic whatever.

12 hour parking is still legal. Anywhere you want to pull over and sleep is good. Just don't spread out and make it home.

Good looking out, but I think I'll take my chances camping outside during the pandemic.

Also spent many nights at the chateau-de-walmart but figured I could do a little better considering the number of forest roads in the area. I was just hoping to avoid the hour of running into closed gates before I found a good one.

Also, looks like the Sixes River is closed and gated, but I'll still check the area out.

Does anyone know if you can kite at the Sixes River on the river side? Looks small, and maybe in a wind shadow, but possible maybe?

It's an epic secret spot. Way better than the ocean... Rolling Eyes

Kiteboarding, in the ocean? You're clearly a god amongst men, but for us mortals who have kids to teach kiteboarding to, uncrowded flat rivers may be preferable.

Is there something posted that said specifically that the Sixes river campsites are closed? No mention of that on the website:
https://www.blm.gov/visit/edson-creek-camping

Also, maybe Kai Lenny could pull off a kite session on the Sixes, otherwise no, I don't think it's possible and definitely not practical. Not sure why others have to be snarky about it, you're just trying to get some information.

There is a KOA nearby as well but they are a bit overpriced in my opinion. It may be worth it though if you have kids because you can't really beat Floras for teaching.
