I remember hearing that the local fisherman requested that kites avoid the area east f the spit. Yesterday most fishermen were situated west of the spit. Has the agreement changed? Is the fishing better west of the spit?

Their really is no official agreement with the fishermen. We are self policing kiters and asking them to stay out of the Klickitat River. The fishermen can fish wherever they want. Herd Mentality, water temp and depth plays a big part where they anchor. Or if someone caught a fish there everyone motors over to that area. A perfect example: My wife pulled into a campsite in MN that was empty with 50 open sites. After setting up her tent a Winnebago pulls in and chooses the site next to her.

The original request was from the locals who fish from the bank near the mouth and bridge.

I have not heard any discussion from the guys who fish from boats.
I'm sure they get frustrated when the catch rate is low - also easy to blame a scapegoat when the fish are not biting.

September is prime season for Coho salmon that enter the lower Klickitat.
