Sunday (July 29th) BLOWOUT DAY!
We will meet in Stevenson. Registration 9-9:30am with a riders meeting of 10am. We are doing teams again this year, so remember this race is about working together as much as being faster than your buddy Wink The Finish line will be at the Marina beach in Hood River, with food, water, free beer, after party and award ceremony to follow. Free to anyone who competed in the BOTG. 60$ Entry. Prizes for all who enter. Many people will carpool to Stevenson and rides will be available after the race. Be there on time so you get a team. This will take all day.

Ok! Thank you everyone! Excited to see you this year! Please message me with questions.

The Blowout has been with the Bridge of the Gods for the past 5 or so years after it dipped in numbers to less then 8 people. During that time the Blowout has risen in popularity considerably and now stands as a big event. With that in mind this year will mark the return of Blowout swag. T-shirts and awards will say blowout and year. Swag bags and the reusable cup to drink free beer for all will say Blowout. Thank you competitors for bringing back the awesome tradition.

How do the teams work? How many people per team? Can we bring our own teammates?

Teams are assigned at random with each team having 1 pro kiter and 3 walk up riders. Each team receives 1 point per place. So 16th place gets your team 16 points. Low score wins. Where it gets interesting is when a team crosses in order. Like a team having a rider get 26th and a rider get 27th. Each kiter would lose 10 points. Minus 20 to the team score. If three people it’s minus 36 per team. 4 in a row never been done gets your team minus 52 points. Keeps the race going until the very end and we give prizes away based on team. Good prizes

I'm coming up to do the Blowout with my girlfriend. I want to be on a team with her. Is this possible if teams are assigned at random? Thanks!

This question will come up and my answer is another question. Why do you want to be on the same team? If you just want to be on the same team then no. The random part adds the affect of the race. Everyone works with people they don’t know. If a rider needs to be assisted for the race then we have another situation. Riders need to be proficient at riding down wind and self rescue skills. We will work with everyone to ensure the most fun and safe race possible. We haven’t put a boyfriend on a girlfriends team in the past. We haven’t put anyone on anyone’s team that wasn’t random. That’s not to say it can’t or won’t happen. The race is for fun. How’s that work?

The Team aspect of the event is one of the best parts of this race. It forces everyone to get to know each other and forces a commitment discussion between team members regarding safety, rescue and finish plans.
This ensures that people who arriving as individuals, local or not local, hit the water as a team, with other kiters keeping tabs on their safety.

Thumb's Up Best race of the year! Special thanks to "kitings first family..." the Bolstads for keeping this alive.
