I'm a keen kiteboarder from SW Western Australia. Been in the PNW since January and still aint been on the water. Waay too long off the water! I had a pretty tight kiting community back in OZ and I don't know a single kiter here. Looking to make contacts and keen as to get a sesh in real soon. |

I hope you have a warm reception here. We went to Perth a few years ago and the kite community was amazing, Juddy took us to all the local spots. Just remember the Columbia is colder and swifter than the Swan River in Perth but no Great Whites to worry about. |

If you live in Portland and may be interested in kiting at the local "kite" beach (Sauvie Island) make sure to check out the fb group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/143559056004225
Otherwise this forum is a great resource to get connected to the greater (coast + PDX + Stevenson + Hood River + Lyle + ...) kite community while off the water. _________________ My pictures of the beautiful PNW

Are you into gorge kiting or coastal kitesurfing? Our season on the Oregon coast has been up and running since February. Some pretty epic conditions around here that will probably be similar to WA. Hope to see you out here! |

Cheers for the feedback all.
Im in Sellwood, Portland.
kbrossel soo many sweets spots along Western Oz coast. Sweet you made it down there. I dont know Juddy, few of me mates would know. I'm from couple hours south of Perth. frequent trips to Lancelin and Woodies in Perth. Augusta in the south. Lano backpackers is the best. Beers and wind all summer.
looking forward to seeing you all on the water.

If it's sunny drive west, if it's cloudy drive east to the cloud line. If it's really cloudy you can find great sessions out in the desert: Arlington, 3 Mile, Roosevelt. _________________ CGKA Member

Is a good free site for the North Coast though ikitesurf.com is worth the money as it gives more detailed human forecasts and lots of sensors. They have problems every year keeping the Clatsop/ Ft Stevens sensors running but if any nearby are over 18, it’s my favorite spot in Oregon with long downwinders and you can drive on the beach. Shipwreck is where most people meet and there’s a FB Site called North Coast Kiteboarders. |

If you ever swing down thru Corvallis, there's a meat pie shop there should you need a fix. No chiko rolls or cornjacks, though! They just opened recently, so maybe they'll add those to the menu at a later date.

Check out Pacific Pie Company in SE PDX (SE 7th). Worked for a New Zealand based clothing company in PDX and we had their meat pies at least once a month there. Kiwi approved |

After living in Oz for a few years I visit Pacific Pie Co now and again to sample a good pie. Was started and owned by a bloke from Oz. Sold it this year. Still a good eat!! |

We need more pie shops and Nurofen Plus. Perfect companions to your post session stubbies.
