I've been working on this board with Fletcher Chouinard at FCD Surfboards trying to create a "step-up" for kitesurfing...

Made specifically for good waves and high speed riding (or if you just like going fast) the FCD "KiteGun" was a board I didn't know that was missing from my quiver. The KiteGun is simply a 6'8/7'0 step up shrunken down to a 5'10 length and has quickly become my board of choice the moment the waves get good. Check it out here from a good day at home this past winter.

Read more about it here: www.fcdsurfboards.com/blog/2018/3/13/co ... e-kite-gun

That was the raddest thing I’ve seen in awhile. That makes me and the rest of my homies on the OR coast look like a buncha jotos... Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

5’ 10” ‘gun’. I love it.

That is called raising the bar by several notches. Great edit and super inspirational Reo, thanks for sharing.

Very Happy

Well, since you asked...

Like so many things in life, it’s complicated, and nuanced. In the current context, it’s Mexican slang surfspeak for “kook”.

E.g., “Yo soy un tabla larga joto.”

But be careful using that vocabulary term. Sorta like this example:

I just got a 6'0 sky surfboards kite gun called the spartan. Have not taken it out in big waves and probably won't, but it's identical dimensions. Looks like it works!!! That guy might rip a door that hard though!!!

Ive got 4 fcd surfboards, i think theyre pretty sweet. The guy that does my ding repair (Tom Scott in seaside, cheap, really good, very interesting) was telling me that the type of foam they use (which is supposed to be more durable and enviro friendly) is prone to bubbling when the board is either left in direct sun or a place where it heats up. No biggie, now i just make sure it gets back in the dakine board bag (not the board sock).

I cant qualify my opinion across a bunch of different brands or shapers. Just thought Id throw in that I think FCD has been great for me, and this one little tip to take care of your whip in the event you go for one.

Nice clip Reo.
I have an FCD that Fletcher shaped for LF back in 2008 ish.....great board.
I think the foam referred to is I-foam....and I am not sure about the bubbling.

But we have made a couple of boards with it in the past and didnt have any issue.

Busy making surf/kite/wake/foil/foilsurf conversion boards with Cush Tech.
In case anyone is getting ready for the season and/or has new goals?
