I have a two week slot the last week of March and first week of April and would like to try to make it down south to kite! Is this too late in the season? Most things I see say season ends in March. It would be my first trip to Mexico so any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks everyone for reading!

It is a bit late for the Sea of Cortez side, La Ventana or Los Barriles. Of course, every year is different but either side of the "season" are really variable. So, November or mid-March can be quite good or absolutely nothing. Probably not worth the chance.
Having said that, the Pacific side can be really good that time of year. A bit early but more likely than the East Cape. So, Abreojos or further north Punta San Carlos would be a better shot but hard to get to and few amenities.
From what I have heard from friends, South Padre is a better choice that time of year.
But good luck whatever you decide. Maybe others will have better ideas?

Same time period the past two years and will do it again this year. Skunked some days, marginal some, windy others. A 17m in your quiver is a good idea.

Mid to Late April is when Bucerias (near Puerto Vallarta) kicks in at it's best.
"The kite and wind season in Bucerias usually covers the months from January to June."
Great little town with every amenity. Hotels, Bars, Shops... but still nice and funky with cobblestone streets, and outdoor taco venders. (unlike Puerto Vallarta which has changed over the years into a mega-chunch of tourism)

Great time of year on the Pac side of Baja. Punta Abreojos, Punta San Carlos, Marquez, Conejo, can all be really good if you like waves. Sound side at Puerto San Carlos if you like flat water or foiling. Beach on outside there is great too but its an adventure getting out there.

Just returned from Los Barriles a few days ago and learned this tidbit, the Exotikite school closes shop in mid April. If that gives you any indication.

Not sure about the rest of the East Cape.

Have fun, I've only had great experiences down there.

I think that is when they move to the pacific side for wave camps.

The last 2 years March was marginal 50% windy, then the winds kicked in again in April. It is a wonderful time of the season, no crowds. Kiters on the water have doubled from 2 years ago, LV has been discovered and is now officially gentrified! Mtn. bike trails and yoga are the number 2 and 3 reason people now come. Bring a foil for 80% days on the water.

Just head to El Cuyo where it'll be raging everyday. Went last Feb., going this year for much of March. Rad place, way less crowded then LV - it's what LV was 10 years ago.

Dios Mio!! This is so true. Unbelievable when you go up to the Hot Springs or Rasta to escape the crowds.... and still find gridlock. I thought it was up %100 from one year ago. Been going every January since retirement in 2010.
