The first Annual A-Town Throwdown will challenge the best that windsurfing, kiteboarding and stand-up paddling have to offer. Showcase your talents among top competitors in our freestyle and downwind competitions and catch some stellar air and waves up the Columbia River Gorge in Arlington, Oregon.

This fun event is sponsored by the Port of Arlington and will take place on June 17 (back-up wind day is June 18th) and showcase the newly reconstructed launch area at the Marina. Competition will include Freestyle Windsurfing contest, Strapless Freestyle Kiteboarding contest, and a 9-mile Downwind SUP race from Blalock to Arlington.

That's real neat that they are putting event on....guess it implies that the improvements were for kiting as well! I must say tho, that when we were sailing the spot back in the late 80's, it was known as the Big A, for the letter up on the hill, and the swells rolling down the river.

Regardless of the nickname, kudos to the port for embracing kiting, gonna b a real good thing.

Anyone actually launched a kite at the new port location? My colleague works there and was planning to try soon, though we both agreed it looks sketchy. Looks like a great windsurf launch tho...

The flyer says it's at Earl Snell park which the map shows is the park on the inlet lake on the other side of the freeway. Is that where the action is going to be or out on the spit by the grain silo? Or both?

Can anyone tell me the options for a 22' camper trailer? Can we dry camp right there?

Yes there are camp sites by the grain silo - adjacent to the marina.
