Anybody try this board yet with a kite? Sounds to good to be true.

if they claim it's super tough and reasonably lightweight then it probably is, that claim is so easy to verify it would be stupid to lie about it.

there are other "rough water" toys out there that are both tough and high performance ... i think it's just surfers that have been taking the good china out into powerful hydrodynamics.

I've heard they aren't all that light(not heavy though) and are somewhat stiff like a Surftech.

Saw the guys surfing them at La Push. They looked like fine boards but nothing amazing in my opinion.

Their fin boxes looked nice though. Basically a futures box with a little fore/aft adjustability.

They are most like TL2, but still nothing like it. Environmentally sound, basaltic composition. They won't say what it is exactly but the only thing in them that is standard are the fin screws (and the fin system is called the MILF so it has to be good Wink.

Kiting on them out here:

> Great compression for the weight, like Nick said not heavy at all but not feather light
> Great shape for kiting, wider at the hip and ride a little longer than they are.
> The Vert is probably the best for kiting
> Reviews from Josh at Cleanline (on the 6'2" Vert) are that it is his favorite board he's ever kited on and has dumped his previous boards which were Taj Firewires

They seem very tough, I'd say the composition, compression, and shape are ideal for ocean kiting around here.

Lots of technical talk here: http://www.cleanlinesurf.com/categories/Surfboards/Lib-Tech-Surfboards/

Super tough but only sort of light sounds realistic. Hopefully they move that tech over to SUPs, which are so freaking big you always end up banging on crap.

[quote="nickdward"]I've heard they aren't all that light(not heavy though) and are somewhat stiff like a Surftech.

I did pick one up. They are light, almost as light as my pu board. And it did flex quite a bit in the shop. I don't know how they feel in the water, but they definitely got my attention. I heard that when they ship them to the shops they don't even box them up. They have no worry of them being scratched or damaged- just stacked in the truck. What a concept. Time will tell...

that guy seems pretty cool

"so technical, they can cut it up and they still won't know how I put it together" ...

Cool

I'm guessing Spike and Elon could figure it out, but they're too busy building the technology to send people to Mars.

More than likely resin infused. But surely
more too it than that.

"all surfboards should have concave decks"

Florian was in my shop one day when I showed
him a concave deck I had designed. He offered an
interesting structural observation but I'll let him
share that.

Mr. Olson also mentions "timbre".
That's the natural frequency which
is highly important and mostly
overlooked, IMO.

Political jab:

Obama would be quick to point out:
"You didn't build those boards;
someone else made that happen"

Looks like a pretty sweet concept, I'd really like to try one. If the strength is what they say, it would be a sweet board for kiting.

Went to check one out a few weeks ago, and I asked the sales guy if all the hype about the robustness was true so he picked one up and tossed it across the shop. kinda shocked me a little and when i saw that he wasn't going to get fired for that I ordered one.

will surfers get pumped over a super tough board?

certainly there are plenty of people buying SUPs to use partly on class II waves/whitewater who'd flip over a board made like this (true, they are all gay, but still, 10% of the whole country is a lot of people)
