Announcement from the Port.
Hopefully this will help with the disappearing gear.
Great news, we have a new Event Site Host!!! The Chow’s (the previous hosts) are bound by the Canadian border and will not be coming this summer. Our new host is Doug Newcomb, a Hood River local and frequent flyer at the Event Site. We are so lucky have him. He will be parking his RV at the West end of the Event Site, please stop by and introduce yourself. He will be monitoring the Lost and Found, helping with parking, educating visitors on park rules, and acting as a liaison to Port Staff. His role is not enforcement but to let the Port know of any issues or if help is needed.
Lot #1 will now be open daily for overflow parking. Port Facility Staff will unlock the gate every morning when the open the Event Site and our night security will close it in the evening. If the Event Site parking lot fills up people will have a place to park. Day passes and season passes are honored in Lot #1. People may also pay by the hour at the kiosks. |

I agree, I think this guy Doug is the perfect fit as the event host.
IMO It should be a local anyway. I never understood why we had of event site hosts that were from Canada, should be local. The Chows we’re OK but at times did not act like host but more like police enforcers.
Thank you port of HR |
