Might have to make it a two sport day.
Too bad daylight savings time hasn't kicked in yet.

Mt. Hood Forecast:
Saturday Night - Low around 15. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Sunday - Snow showers likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 24.

EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE:
.SUNDAY...PARTLY CLOUDY IN THE MORNING THEN BECOMING MOSTLY
SUNNY. WINDY. HIGHS 48 TO 53. WEST WIND 20 TO 30 MPH.

Roosevelt WA.
I don't think I would recommend any spot in the Gorge for beginner/intermediate kiters until the water warms up.

The air temp was pretty mild on Saturday (upper 50's), and I saw several people riding without gloves and/or hoods. Today should have more sunshine, but the water is still around 41 degrees.

The snow on Mt Hood failed to deliver last night, and the wind forecast seems to be fizzling as well, but NOAA says it should warm up nicely again today.

EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE
.REST OF TODAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS 54 TO 59. WEST WIND 10 TO
15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.

Nice pics.

It's funny how the Gorge forecast from Friday for Sunday ended up being more accurate than the Sunday morning update for both temps and wind.

The wind picked up nicely from Swell City through Roosevelt in the afternoon with temps right around 50 degrees.

PostTue Mar 05, 13 9:48 am    92 points on the 100 rule minimum session rule Reply with quote

100 point rule not observed...probably 92 (52 air temp and 40 or less for the water). Keeping my hands dry or as dry as possible extended my session, but still had to come on shore, park my kite, fly my kite low over the water with one hand while making a fist inside my glove w/my unused hand so I could thaw out my fingers. Early Spring session was great, but not newbie/beginner friendly. Big boosts and yard sales and body dragging for boards did not occur this session.

The eastern gorge is greening up in them hills and is primed for its annual velvet green bloom explosion--so scenic this time of year.
