After moving here in July, living near the beach finally payed off! People are so used to nice weather that on a day like this the beach is completely deserted. Also, who needs a fancy camera with a giant lens when you have a point and shoot and a pair of binoculars Wink

25 mph all weekend long!

Redondo Beach, just north of it. The beach here is steep so the waves break pretty close to the beach, and with the size of these waves its damn near impossible to go out past the break, not that I felt like doing so... Still a sweet time riding the flat water between the broken waves!

Ah, King Harbor and Redondo Beach in the foreground. That photo brings back some great memories of my childhood as I grew up in that neighborhood. Fishing for bonita in the harbor and learning to surf as a grom in those waves breaking at Burnout, TB, the Avenues, Rat Beach and Haggerty's.

Spike, thanks for the cool shot of memory lane.

Adam, who is China? It's windy as hell over here right now but kites on the beach. seems to be tricky to find other kiters around here.

Hey Spike, you still in the area? I live in the Gorge but was overseas for the winter. Grew up in So. Cal surfing at RAT beach and arriving tomorrow for about 10 days or so before heading back to the good ol' NW. . What size kite should I bring? Would love to grab a session. Have only had 2 since I left the Gorge in late Sept.

Calisewame,
Looks like it might be windy again this weekend, i bet your midsize kite will be fine. PM me and we can get together when the wind picks up.

Only downside to the wind here is that it is usually due to a storm which brings in tons of rain (in itself not bad) but the rain washes all the nasty stuff and garbage form the streets down the storm sewers right into the ocean making it too nasty to do any kiteboarding (its really gross, the water turns black and is full of trash). It appears that you have to catch it right before it starts raining. I'll try and get a picture of it some time.

You guys have it pretty nice in in Oregon/Washington!
